Michelle Malkin lights up CPAC with scathing criticism of congressional opponents who are thwarting Trump’s border wall and immigration reform

Not known as one who pulls her punches, conservative author, firebrand, and entrepreneur Michelle Malkin was true to form during a fiery speech at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday.

Blasting what she correctly characterized as long-standing abuses of America’s immigration and asylum system, Malkin called out lawmakers on both sides of the aisle — to include one late senator from Arizona — for their opposition to POTUS Donald Trump’s efforts to reform it while improving physical border security, Breitbart News reported.

“The most important issue we face is immigration and we need to be talking about it for more than one panel for 20 minutes,” railed Malkin, who was born in Philadelphia to Filipino parents, from the event stage, after beginning her speech declaring she was a “proud, unhyphenated, unapologetic, fully assimilated American.”

“My first CPAC in 2002 was to talk about my first book Invasion which exposed how border failures and systemic non-enforcement of our visa program rules created the national security crisis that led to” the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, she said.

She noted that immigration was a seminal issue during the 2016 election or, at least, it was for POTUS Trump, which many political analysts have said propelled him to the White House when nearly all of them thought Hillary Clinton was going to coast to victory.

Malkin praised the president “as he battles the Beltway swamp, the Deep State, the administrative state, and the fake news Fourth Estate.”

“But,” she noted, “there is no sugarcoating America’s long-term forecast.”

The firebrand and weekly columnist called out both political parties, as well as anyone who seeks to “marginalize and criminalize mainstream conservatives, anti-jihad groups, and immigration hawks as ‘hate groups’ and push us out of the public square” like Color of Change and the Southern Poverty Law Center are attempting to do, she charged.

In addition, she called out, by name, former House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), current Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), “the Bush family,” “[current GOP senator from Utah] Mitch Romney, and the ghost of [the late] John McCain (R-Ariz.),” the latter of which drew a rebuke from his widow, Cindy McCain.

‘Our general welfare and blessings of liberty are being endangered’

“Our shining city on a hill has become a much-abused doormat to the world. Building the border wall is just half the battle. The numbers tell all. Our future is dimmed. The odds are fearful,” said Malkin.

Citing current government stats, Malkin said the U.S. gives 1 million people a year legal resident status while predicting that the overall figure would rise to 10 million by 2025. (Related: House Democrats propose OPEN BORDERS in 2019 homeland security budget.)

“That’s more than the current combined population of Dallas, St. Louis, Denver, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Atlanta,” she said.

“Princeton University researchers found that recently admitted immigrants sponsored an average of 3.45 additional relatives each,” said Malkin, a reference to a concept conservatives have long criticized known as “chain migration.”

The government’s diversity lottery admitted an additional half-million migrants from 2008 – 2017 she said. “Tens of thousands are pouring in from terrorism breeding grounds through the lottery, unvetted, unmonitored, and unassimilated,” she added, citing a security risk.

She also pointed out that “nearly half” of all illegal aliens in America are here because they violated their original legal work or visitor visas.

“Congress has repeatedly mandated a nationwide visa entry-exit system to track legal short-term visa holders” but has yet to approve that such a system be built — nearly 18 years after the 9/11 attacks.

“E-verify has been stalled,” she blasted, adding that “sanctuary cities [have] metastasized.”

“Open borders anarchy, multiplied by endless chain migration, amnesty, and cheap labor pipelines, endangers our general welfare and the blessings of liberty,” she said, blaming both parties for their inattentiveness.
